The ECONOME Business Conference & Mixer V, themed “Swim Differently,” provided a unique perspective on how entrepreneurs like myself can navigate niche markets while maintaining originality and authenticity.
One of the keynote speakers, Mr. Andre Jeffers, Group Chief Strategy Officer at ANSA McAL Group, said it best when he shared a message that, to paraphrase, was: “You have to learn to swim first before you can swim differently.” Those words resonated deeply with me. Learning how to swim isn’t just about mastering your craft; it’s about building the foundation necessary to change the trajectory of your business and position it for long-term success.
As a young female entrepreneur who believes she can have it all—and will—I often find myself wearing multiple hats, as I’m sure many can relate: creative designer, finance manager, sales representative, customer service representative, and business owner. While these roles demonstrate versatility, they can also create a business that lacks structure.
And without structure, growth becomes difficult to sustain.
Attending ECONOME V 2026 reaffirmed many of the plans I have for Alpha Creations Media & Alpha Events Guyana. It reminded me that navigating uncharted waters isn’t simply about learning how to swim—it’s about learning how to survive, adapt, and lead.
I’ve never been easily impressed by business conferences. Too often, substance is missing, and the discussions fail to connect with my reality as a young entrepreneur. However, having attended my second ECONOME conference, I can confidently say that this year’s event was executed with great intention. Every discussion, speaker, and interaction reflected a genuine commitment to youth development, entrepreneurship, and business growth.
As I left the conference, I wasn’t just inspired—I was challenged, excited even. Challenged to think bigger, plan better, and build stronger foundations for the future of ACM. Because swimming differently starts with learning how to swim, but lasting success comes from having the courage to navigate waters others are afraid to enter.
Kudos to the team behind ECONOME Business Conference & Mixer V for delivering an experience that challenged, inspired, and encouraged meaningful conversations about the future of business in Guyana. I look forward to what next year’s conference has in store.
